Amy Mengying Han is a young, acclaimed oboist interested in using her diverse talents for the betterment of her community. At the age of 12, as the principal oboist, she won the First prize and Outstanding Performance Prize in the Second Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna (2008), and the First Prize in the 37th International Youth & Music Festival in Vienna (2008) with the Juvenile Golden Sail Symphony Orchestra. In the same year, she won the First prize in the Instrumental Solo Competition at The Students Art Festival in Beijing, China. Amy has performed with orchestras, chamber groups, fund-raising arts organizations, and even played in musical theater. She has performed with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, as well as other professional orchestras and chamber groups worldwide. She has performed in multiple sold-out concerts with her chamber group at Peking University, receiving praise from both the audience and the press. For the benefit of her community, she volunteered as an organizer and musician in a fund-raising event for the victims of the Wenchuan earthquake. In the year of 2019, she was selected to attend the Youth Music of China in GuangDong and join the Silk Road Project, led by world known cellist, Yo-Yo Ma. During the project, she also made her debut as the principal oboist in the XingHai Concert Hall, featuring the Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Born in Beijing, China, Amy began her oboe studies at the age of seven with Professor Dun Zhu in the Central Conservatory. She further refined her oboe technique and knowledge of the Western art history tradition through her undergraduate studies at the Peabody Institute. She embraces opportunities to perform outside China, forming close relationships with other great musicians. During her undergraduate study, Amy studied with Jane Marvine. She joined the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Chamber Orchestra and Peabody Wind Ensemble as the principal oboist during her time at Peabody. Han received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the Peabody Conservatory as a recipient of the Emily P. McDaniel Endowed Scholarship. She was pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Lynn Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Joseph Robinson. Currently, Han is returning to Peabody Conservatory and studying with Nicholas Stovall.
