Amy with her teacher Nicholas Stovall (Principal Oboe / National Symphony Orchestra) at Peabody
As a teacher, I believe passion and consistency are the keys to making a miracle. When first meeting a student, I start by learning their ability, strengths and weaknesses, and character during our first few sessions. After this period, I will conduct my teaching according to their playing issues and weaknesses, tracking their improvement to ensure that students can understand and improve their problems in a short time. Besides, I will hold the studio class / department concert monthly to offer students a chance for performing in front of the public. I think this is a good way to maintain their passion to music.
For the teaching part, I will suggest a plan and daily routine to the individuals regarding their practice time and content. Making sure that every student could be covered and make progress consistently. The purpose of the session aims to check the study progress and achievement, giving encouragement and compliments to my students to maintain their passion for music.
I will encourage them to submit the recordings weekly to track their improvement and offer my feedback and updated guidelines to ensure their progress, making sure they are on the right track.
